George has worked as a grocery clerk, painter, maintenance mechanic, custodian, security guard, high school teacher, short-order cook, facilities engineer, energy conservation consultant, trainer, facilitator, operations director, management consultant, and executive coach. While an administrator at The University of Michigan, he helped pioneer and implement a participatory approach to management and governance—the council of equals—that was nationally recognized for its innovation and effectiveness.
George is the author of A Conscious Person’s Guide to the Workplace, Adventures in Healing, A Council of Equals Handbook, and Looking for the True Self. All freely available in downloadable PDF format on this website.
From 2005 to 2017, George worked as a caretaker and host at a small retreat center and homestead in southern Michigan. He has now moved on—living nomadically—and could be most anywhere right now. George can be reached via email at gasanfan@umich.edu.
